Armadillidium gestroi for Sale: Three Eye-Catching Morphs

Looking for Armadillidium gestroi for sale? We offer four popular morphs of this impressive species: Standard, Zinger, & Mixed Morph. Often called the yellow spotted giant isopod, gestroi is one of the largest pill bugs in the hobby. Its bold spots and generous size make it a showpiece for bioactive terrariums, display enclosures and collectors who like their isopods big.

4 Armadillidium gestroi varieties Available

Standard Yellow-Spotted Gestroi is the classic gestroi: a dark body with yellow spots. It’s hardy, striking and the perfect way to start a colony.

White Gestroi “Zinger” is the white-spotted morph. Its bright white spots give it a crisp, high-contrast look against dark soil and green plants, and it stands out in any display.

Mixed Morph Gestroi is a blend of colors and spot patterns, so no two animals look exactly alike. It’s a fun choice for keepers who like variety within a single colony.

How to care for Armadillidium gestroi

All 3 morphs share the same care, so you can keep several without learning new rules. Gestroi is generally hardy and forgiving, which makes it a good step up from basic species.

• Moisture: create a gradient, with one side lightly damp and the other drier. Avoid waterlogged substrate.
• Ventilation: good airflow keeps conditions fresh and prevents mold.
• Substrate: use organic soil mixed with leaf litter and rotting hardwood.
• Hides: provide cork bark and other cover.
• Calcium: offer a source such as cuttlebone.
• Food: feed a varied diet of leaves and wood, with the occasional vegetable or protein. Remove uneaten fresh food before it spoils.
• Space: their large size suits bigger enclosures, where smaller isopods can look lost.

Like other Armadillidium, gestroi rolls into a tight ball when disturbed, a fun behavior to watch. In a bioactive terrarium, it feeds on decaying leaf litter, rotting wood and leftover food, keeping your substrate healthy and fresh. With stable conditions, a starter group will grow into a colony that fills your setup with color and movement.
